Day 3 -- Sharon Vermont

Day 3 SUNDAY
We started the day off by picking up Dr. Bennett and his family from the Boston airport. We were supposed to go to a sacrament in Concord Massachusetts for a 10 am sacrament, and we got there.....but the people in the ward never did. It turns out it was their stake conference that day (got to love miscommunication). So we went to the 1 pm church further away in Lebanon (New Hampshire? We kept crossing states so often, I usually did not have a clue which state we were ever in) It was a lovely ward. The problem with going to church so much later is that it pushed us back for the rest of the day (so we got back to our hotel really really late). We arrived in Sharon Vermont (Joseph Smith's birthplace) later than what the missionaries expected but it all worked out. The Spirit was very strong at the visitors center. They had music playing outside and it echoed throughout the area because it is forested. We had some quiet time and as I was sitting there the spirit hit me and I realized I recognized the song...it was Deep River sung by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. The choir's singing reverberated and was super epic and spiritual and I absolutely loved it. The Joseph Smith Monument is 38.5 feet, is solid granite, and it took them over 40 days to haul it from the train station to this hill back in 1905...being 100 years after the birth of Joseph.

This monument is as tall as every year that Joseph was alive: 38.5 feet

That's how big the cabin was where Joseph Smith was born...Super tiny!

This Lemon Pie was amazing....
